The Music

In an era of rap and pop Creed is one of the few new groups out there who's music carries a positive message, their music has meaning beyond sex drugs and money. Creed has succeeded in bringing rock back from an early grave. Whether it’s the hard rock sound of Bullets, or the contemplative sorrow of what's this life for every song has meaning, every song has a message.
The most popular artists today include Britney Spears, Eminem, and N’Sync. All f which sing about the same things over and over. Sex, drugs, money, and even murder. Although these “artists” may feel their music carries a positive message (“ My music has a positive message, its f*** you” –Eminem), it doesn’t, in fact far from it. These people are looked up to by many, from young girls who strive to be britney spears to teenagers who cuss and speak in the manner of Eminem.
But there is nothing positive about the message these people send, that’s where Creed comes in. For every Eminem out there, there’s a Creed song to challenge it. A Creed song with a positive message.

Their first Album, My Own Prison, was perhaps the best to date (that’s not to say the others weren’t great too!) It begins with Torn, followed by Ode, and the title track, My Own Prison, and Pity for a Dime. Then comes In America a song depicting the wrongs of American culture and the confusion of just what is right, and what is wrong, In America. Following In America are Illusion, Unforgiven, and Sister. After sister are (in my opinion) the two most powerful and meaningful songs on the album. Whats this life for, and One(which this site is named after).
What's this life for is a song of anguish and confusion surrounding the loss of a loved one to suicide. And then there’s One. One is a song of the wrongs of hate and discrimination in our world and the need to be as “One” with each other. After the events of September 11th this song means even more.
Their next Album, Human Clay, opens with the powerful, are you ready, followed by What If, Beautiful, Say I, Wrong Way, Faceless man, and Never Die. After Never Die is With Arms Wide Open, which Stapp wrote (as he sang it) when he found out he was going to be a father. After With Arms Wide Open is Higher (The first Creed song I ever heard), Wash Away Those years, and Inside Us All.
Their latest album is called weathered. Weathered opens with the hard rock anthem, Bullets, followed by Freedom Fighter. Then comes who’s Got My Back, which is introduced by a cherokee prayer sung by Bo Taylor. After that is Signs, and Creed’s two newest singles, One Last Breath and My Sacrafice. After my Sacrafice is Stand Here With Me, a song Stapp wrote about the devotion of his fans. Then comes the title track, Weathered, and then Hide, Don’t stop Dancing, and the closing track, Lullaby.
